Phiome

Phiome is a biotech company rethinking the future of the skin microbiome, specialised in odour preventative technology using innovative, small and microbiome-smart ingredients.
Rosie Broadhead, co-founder of Phiome and textile research company Skin Series, reached out to develop their brand and graphic identity, packaging designs, and their website.

Brand Identity + Packaging

In order to speak the same visual language, we started off with a collaborative moodboard. Rosie sent me a number of references which I could digest into a collection of potential visual options.
We then decided on a direction that would focus on the technology (research/discovery), that would be design-oriented (blue, blur, clear) and that would include a somewhat abstract use of the skin as material (soft, natural, body, intimate).
A few initial logo design directions were explored.
We ended up opting for the use of braille. The little dots reminiscent of the bacteria itself and connecting with the idea of something invisible which you can touch.
The graphic direction took on a more deconstructed structure, mirroring the bacteria, and the use of colours such as strong blue on white accentuated the medical and scientific aesthetic.
Here are the validated logos, and graphic identity.

Website Design and Build

Following the graphic identity, the website was designed on Figma with a collaborative approach, giving the opportunity for Rosie to share thoughts and comments as I designed the different sections.
I opted for a simple single page layout and the website build was done using webflow.
